Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue (Vida)!

As promised, here is the second of the UFO finishes.  I started this dress over a year ago as well.  I was looking for something to do with the leftovers from the Manhattan Special Occasion Dress which I made for my niece's birthday a couple of years ago.  The Farbenmix "Vida" pattern seemed a good fit as it doesn't use a lot of yardage and it is easy to combine several fabrics for a fun look.

All of the Farbenmix patterns come with a little Farbenmix label that can be sewn onto your finished garments.  I don't usually use them, but this one matched so well that I just couldn't resist!

This dress is also available for sale.  It is once again, a European pattern. The Strawberry Feliz

Hello Everyone!

I believe that Spring finally may have arrived here in my little corner of Minnesota.  A week a ago we were dealing with a prediction of 7-10 inches of snow, but only two days later it was 65 and sunny.  Gotta love the upper midwest. :)

I was finally able to get out and get some pictures of some of my UFO's that I have finally been able to finish!  These little dresses have been in the works for well over a year.  They were the projects that I never finished before being distracted by something "shiny". LOL

First up is this little dress.

This is a modified version of the Farbenmix "Feliz" dress pattern that was popular a few years ago.  Unfortunately, the individual pattern is no longer in print.  It can only be found in the book "Sewing Clothes Kids Love."  I have to say that this is my all time favorite little girl's dress pattern.  I have made about 15 or 16 of them now and I have it down to about 12-15 hours worth of sewing time depending on if there is any appliqué included or not.  My first "Feliz" took A LOT longer. :)  I have only made one of them which did not include the ruffles in the back.  I think the ruffles are what I love most about it!

For this one I decided to change it up a bit.  I only did a single layer instead of making an underdress and an overdress.  I omitted the overdress.  The original pattern calls for elastic across the back and also has ties that tie in the back.  I changed it up a little by putting the elastic on the sides as well as the ties.

I was able to use trim that I already had in my stash, so that was a bonus, too.  This beaded eyelet was a perfect fit for across the front, and I had just enough eyelet trim for the skirt as well.

I just LOVE how it turned out.  This sweet strawberry fabric makes me think of summertime and picnics!  Both of which I am well ready for this year after such a loooonnnngggg winter!

I am so happy to finally have this little dress finished and to be able to share it with you!  Technically, I didn't finish this this week, but I'm linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish it up Friday anyway.  I think Amanda would cheer for me for having finished an old project. :)

Finished! At Last!

OK I know it's Saturday, but I'm linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts for her Finish It Up Friday this week anyway. That is because I have not one, not two, but THREE finishes this week!  Yay!  I could not bear to shout that they are finally finished. LOL

The first is this little wall hanging that I started about 2 years ago.  It was inspired by Amanda's little pillow, I decided that mine needed to be a wall hanging instead.  I finished the top right away and that was as far as it got until a couple of weeks ago when I decided it was time to finish it.  I sandwiched it and quilted it then and finished up the binding this week.  It still needs some little rings sewn to the back so that I can hang it up, but other than that it is finished!

The second is this little baby quilt that I started about  a year ago.  Not sure who will wind up with it yet, everybody seems to be having boys! LOL  I cut all the little tumbler blocks on my Go! cutter.  Love that thing!

And the third and final finish is this baby!  I am embarrassed to say that it was started about 4 1/2 years ago.  I got the blocks done in a reasonable amount of time, and finished the top several months later in a sewing session at Amanda's house.  She helped me arrange the blocks. :)  I finally got it quilted about a year later, the binding machine sewn on about a year after that, and I finally got it hand sewn this week. It was originally started as my effort to join in Amanda's One a Day quilt a long.  Needless to say I fell a little behind... LOL.  I am so glad to have this project off of my list and into use.  In perfect timing for a really cold week being forecast here in Minnesota!

I am not counting these as part of my unfinished project goal this year as I finished them before I set the goal.  Next up is to finish my Scrappiness Squared quilt and a small pillow a friend asked me to make from a special sweatshirt.  I hope to finish both by the end of January.
