Craft Show Prep

Sorry that I have been a little MIA lately.   I have been feverishly prepping for a craft show that I have coming up on Saturday.  I actually had plenty of inventory, but I needed a pretty way to display everything.
I thought I'd share these little dandies with you.  I made bonnet stands!
These were so easy to make.  I simply bought 4 inch round wooden plaques (already had the routed edge), wooden candlesticks (I was lucky enough to find some on clearance for about 1.50!), wooden napkin rings and a wooden ball for the top.  A little wood glue, a little paint and... tada! Bonnet stands!  I did give them a good 3 coats of clear spray polyurethane, also, to keep the paint from getting scratched as easily.

I am just giggling over how cute these things are and they were so simple!

I built a bigger display stand, too, but that is a post for another day. :)

Baby Bonnets from Leftovers

I don't often do craft shows, but my friend Danielle of Live Laugh Sew is having one in her home in a few weeks.  I have been going through what I have on hand and realizing that I REALLY need to sell some things, LOL.

I've also been looking at Pinterest. Sometimes that gets me in trouble, LOL. I usually wind up heading into my sewing room with boatloads of ideas afterward and today was no different.  More on the other ideas later...

The one I focused on today is really very simple and I have been itching to get into my sewing room and start in on them.  In fact they are so simple that I would be willing to put together a tutorial if anyone is interested.

Baby bonnets.  I have so many small pieces of fabric left over from other projects, and bits of lace and rickrack and ribbon galore.  I thought this would be a great way to combine them!  I am really loving making these.  They are so simple and quick to sew up and will hopefully sell at the craft sale (unless someone else wants them before... wink, wink...)

This one is a 3-6 month size.
This one is also a 3-6 month size.  I will need to purchase some ribbon for this one.  I didn't have the right size red and the brown that I had seemed too drab.
And this one is a 6-12 month size.
I am hoping to do a few more in both sizes and also a few in 0-3 month size.  I'm also considering doing a few lined with flannel.  It has turned downright cold up here in Minnesota in the last few days.

All in all it was a pretty fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon!  What about you?  What have you been up to lately?

And the winner is......

Katherine is the winner of my 100th post drawing! I need your address so I can mail your prize to you! You can email me at ljlehn@charter.net and let me know where you want it sent! Congratulations! I hope that you have fun creating with the fat quarters!

The craft sale was sort of a wierd thing. There weren't very many people there, but I probably sold more than anyone else at the sale. I made $56.00 which was enough to cover my costs and I now have a few things left to list on Etsy. All in all, a moderate success. They are thinking about doing one again next year, only advertising and organizing it better than this year. This was their first attempt. I think part of our problem was that we were just a little too far away from the main activities in town that day. People weren't going to walk that far just for a craft sale. They are talking about putting together a committee to organize next year's sale. This one wasn't handled in the best manner. I sold 3 pillowcase dresses, two t-shirts and two pairs of Shoe-bead-oos. A good portion of those were all bought by one person, however. :)

I spent the last couple of hours updating websites. I updated our adoption site and I put together a new site for the block swap where I posted pictures of Amanda's beautiful bright quilt. Hopefully this will inspire others in the swap to finish their quilts and people who didn't participate to make thier own bright quilts.
