I'm back

Actually I didn't go anywhere, I have just been too busy to post. I figured I'd better get caught up!
Yesterday was my niece Kayla's 20th birthday. I was there at the hospital the day she was born. It hardly seems like it was 20 years ago! To celebrate her birthday, I made her a "Turning Twenty" quilt. I mailed it off last week and she received it on Monday. She was thrilled with it.



Did I mention that I am in love with my new slopers? I have so many ideas for how to use them! Here is the first thing that I have made with them. Hopefully I can get my niece Alexa to model this for me and get some better pictures. I also have a dress planned that I want to make with them.




I also started working on some skirts for Etsy for the Christmas season. I have about 11 of them planned, we will see how many actually get finished. LOL
Here is the first one. They will all be the same style, but just different sizes and fabrics.



I have also been doing a major overhaul of my website. Stay tuned for the re-release of that sometime in the next couple of weeks. I am about half finished with it. There is still a lot more work to do, though. Website upkeep is just so time intensive.

I thought I'd throw this picture in, too. Do you remember the coffee table I got a couple of weeks ago at a garage sale? It has the glass tiles in it and my cat cannot figure it out. We laugh so hard at her. I had to get a picture this morning. She can't figure out that her mouse is on top of the table. LOL

A muumuu for Mady-mu....

I finished Mady's dress for her birthday. I really like how it turned out, but it does have a certain muumuu-like quality about it. I think its the tiers. LOL I am still planning on making some bloomers to go under it.

Lots of twirl power in this dress, too. Just the thing for a 4 year old girl. :) The bottom tier is approximately 175 inches around. I took the width of the fabric and cut 4 strips. I didn't measure it, I just cut it.




I joined Amanda in her effort to finish up projects that were nearing completion. So far I have only finished one thing. I started this circle skirt a while back for Etsy. It's a girls size 8. I drafted everything about the pattern from scratch, and I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. I am thinking about redrafting the pattern in different sizes so I can make them for Etsy. I have some fun ladybug fabric in green, pink and yellow that I think will be the next one.



And here is the pillowcase dress I finished a little while back for Etsy. I just got around to getting pictures of it. Now, just to find time to do the listings.....



And finally I thought I'd add this picture because I thought it was funny. We have ducks nesting in the neighbor's yard, and this little guy was wandering around our front yard the other day. Aeris was mezmerized.

Sneak peek and an awesome quilt...

Here is a little peek at the fabrics for the new set I am making for Etsy. It is going together really well so far, so it looks like my pattern modifications are going to work! :)

Something for Etsy, and the further adventures in pattern drafting...

I picked up 3 of these little bodysuits last summer on clearance and I just got around to figuring out what to do with one of them. I thought it turned out pretty cute. :) Nice quick little project for Etsy.

I started in on another outfit for Etsy today, too. I figured I'd better get geared up a little for spring. It also seems like things get listed so fast at Etsy that they get buried a bunch of pages down in a hurry. Something can go from being on the first page down about 50 pages in like 2 days. It's crazy!

The new outfit will be a "float" top and a pair of pants that are gathered and cuffed mid calf in a size 3t. The top is essentially a full circle gathered on to a high yoke and then has a ruffle around the hem. The fabric is wild and crazy, but that's what you all said you liked. ;) It is a bright, BIG, hot pink, red, yellow, green, white and black paisley and the pants are a sort of sqiggley hot pink and white stripe. I am fairly certain that my pattern modifications will be ok, but figuring out the full circle thing was kind of weird. Once I figured out a couple of things, then it started to make sense, and I think it will work ok. I just washed the fabric and I am waiting for it to dry, then I can iron it and start cutting out! Wish me luck! :)

Why, oh, why?

Do I keep looking at things on line? I discovered a magazine that I might just have to pick up a copy or two. It is a Finnish children's clothing design magazine called Ottobre Design They have soooo many cute things! Really, the price is reasonable when you consider the amount of patterns that are in each issue.

I have lots of ideas boiling around in my brain for spring. I will have to get on the ball and get some of them done after the Holidays are over.

I want to say a quick thank you to those of you who volunteered to try out my new idea for Etsy. I now have enough volunteers for this trial run. I'll proceed with this come January. I appreciate your willingness to play along!

I just wanted to post a little reminder that the FA quilt drawing will be on Saturday. If you were thinking about donating, there is still a little time left if you want to donate on line. So far it has raised $195.00. Not too bad for a first try. I also haven't heard from my sister who was collecting donations from people that she works with. Hopefully that will put us up over the $200 mark. I may do this again sometime in the future. Next time I will be a little better organized, and hopefully that will lead to more donations. The first time trying something like this is always a little interesting.

I am beginning to come down with a cold, so I am going to turn in early tonight.
