Estherlyn's Jumper on S is for Sewing

All photos are courtesy of Ana Sofia and S is for Sewing

Today I am privileged to be a part of Ana Sofia's S is for Sewing blog. Ana Sofia has written a review of my Estherlyn's Jumper pattern.

I have been following S is for Sewing for quite a while now, and I am always impressed with the beautiful things that Ana Sofia sews for her daughter.  I am truly honored that she would take the time to review my pattern.  I just love this beautiful blue print that she chose and the trims are very pretty as well!

I encourage you to stop by her blog and read the review, but also just spend some time perusing all the lovely posts she has written in the past.  You won't be disappointed.

Join me again Monday for the third variation of the Shoulder Tie Dress Mod Monday series and again the following Monday for the link party to share what you have created.

Until next time, Happy Sewing!

Estherlyn's Tobago Jumper Mashup

I happened to be looking through my blog feed this morning and saw that Call Ajaire's Monthly Mash Up using my pattern was featured on The Inspired Wren's blog yesterday!  What fun, and congratulations to Ajaire.  I know that she works hard on this series and has such wonderful ideas.  It's a little surreal to me to see my pattern (or part of it) on someone else's blog. LOL

There is still time to get your Estherlyn's Jumper pattern and mash along!  The 25% code MASHUP will be good through the weekend at both my Etsy shop and my Big Cartel shop.  The Scientific Seamstress also has a sale at their Etsy shop as well, get 40% off with the coupon code GLUESTICK.
And don't forget to join the Facebook page and share your creation!

In other news, I haven't been posting much because I have been working on a flower girl dress and trying to rebuild my website, which is currently a huge mess.  I will post more on those topics later.  I DO however have a little series coming up which will start on Monday and will run through September.

So, until next time...
Happy Sewing!

Estherlyn's Jumper: Using the Applique Shapes - The Flower Shape

Goodness, has it really been a week since my last post!  It's been a bit of a busy week for me so I apologize for the lack of posts.  I promise I have some fun posts planned for the future.  I had a fun little photo shoot with three little beauties last week for an upcoming series, so be on the lookout for that coming up in September.

Are you mashing along with Ajaire this month?  If so, I have good news for you!  I have renewed the discount codes for my Estherlyn's Jumper at Etsy and my Big Cartel shop and the price is still reduced at Craftsy.  The code is MASHUP and will be in effect through the last day of August.  There is still plenty of time to join in the fun!

Last week I showed some ideas for using the heart shape that comes with the Estherlyn's Jumper pattern.  This week I have some ideas for the flower shape to show you.  Hopefully these will get your creativity going and you will come up with your own ideas.

First of all some ideas using the flower shapes just as they are.  You can use them individually or you can layer them together.

My favorite designs use an added center.  You could use a button, a yo-yo, or maybe a small circle, or maybe an embroidered center.  I think a running stitch in a spiral in the center would be cute. Again, you can layer them if you like.  The layering can be centered or not centered, I think it is fun either way. The choices are really up to you.

I hope that these have given you some ideas all your own to use on your jumper.  If you make one I'd love to see you share your creation on the MCM Studio Designs Facebook Page, and don't forget to blog about it and share the link at Ajaire's blog.

Until next time,
Happy Sewing!

Who Won the Estherlyn's Jumper Pattern?

Helen Moore, you are the winner of the Estherlyn's Jumper pattern! I have replied to your comment. Congratulations and have fun sewing!

Kids Clothes Week and a Chance to Win!

Today is the start of this round of Kids Clothes Week!  Are you sewing along?

I thought I'd share some easy design ideas for my Estherlyn's Jumper pattern this week.  Some of these ideas came from some of my testers.  I'm also giving away one free copy of the pattern.   Leave a comment from now through Wednesday evening to be entered to win.  I'll draw for a winner on Thursday morning.  Please be sure to include a way for me to contact you if you win.

I sewed up this little 2t Estherlyn's Jumper a week or so ago.  The design changes were very simple on this one.  I just added a couple of little decorative buttons along the edge of the apron and I also used bias trim along the curved edge of the apron instead of sewing the apron pieces together and turning them.  Easy peasy!  The best part about this dress was that everything (except the yellow buttons) came from my stash!

What would be your take on this pattern?  I'd love to know!

The Big Day is Finally Here!

I am so excited to finally be able to share this pattern with you!
Estherlyn's Jumper is finally available for purchase!  See the link in my sidebar to purchase it from my new little shop.  It is also available in my Etsy shop and CraftsyToday only use the coupon code LAUNCH and receive a 25% discount.  Craftsy does not allow discount codes, so to get the discount please purchase through my shop link in my side bar or my Etsy shop. :)

Estherlyn's Jumper is perfect for all seasons. In warmer weather it can be worn as a sleeveless dress. When the weather turns cooler, layer it over a shirt or blouse. This is a cute, simple design with an asymmetrical apron panel in the front. It is a great canvas for expressing your own creativity by adding trims, ruffles, appliqué or decorative stitching.  It covers a wide size range from 3 months to 10 years.
This pattern is easy enough for beginner sewists. Skills needed consist of button holes, sewing curves and pivoting.
Once again a big thank you goes out to all of my testers, the friends I have made through Pattern Workshop, Lauren Dahl who created Pattern Workshop, my sweet hubby, Jason, and my Creator without whom I would be nothing.  I could not have done this without all of the support that has been shown to me throughout this process.  They have helped to make this dream a reality for me!

The Testers Have Been Testing!

It's been a bit of a bumpy ride and I have a lot more work to do, but I thought I'd share a few of the tester photos of my first pattern, Estherlyn's Jumper.  I am so thankful for my testers and all of the

Official Call for Testers!!!

A few months ago I stumbled upon a blog post.  The writer of the blog post was singing the praises of Lauren Dahl's Pattern Workshop.  The course "Creating PDF Patterns: From Sketch to Sale" called out to the designer in me.

"What if I could start a pattern line? Could I really do it?"

It wasn't the first time that the idea and I had crossed paths. I had just never been handed the tools with which to make it happen.... and there they were right in front of me!

Not wanting to make a decision lightly and based solely on emotion, I looked into the course.  I read some reviews and made the decision to just jump in and do it.  From there there was no looking back.

I am so very glad that I did it!  The course is fantastic!  The people that I have met through it as well as Lauren herself have been wonderful and very helpful.

As any new adventure, it hasn't been with out its ups and downs. My first pattern was drafted 3 times before (hopefully) all the errors were eliminated.  I have learned SO much about using vector drawing programs to draw and grade the patterns, about PDF patterns and how they are assembled, about using layout editing software, about the testing process, about how to market the finished pattern, and so much more that I can't even begin to tell you about.

The Facebook group that Lauren has set up for students of the course is truly wonderful.  It is a community of people all learning together.  We help each other when someone is stuck on something, we laugh together, we lift each other up when we are feeling unsure of ourselves, we rejoice in each other's successes and we support each other in making our designing dreams come true.

I really cannot say enough good things about Pattern Workshop! For me, it has all led up to this moment... my first pattern and my first call for testers!  I am both excited and scared out of my wits!

The information to sign up to test is included below as well as in the "Be a Tester" tab at the top of the page.  I would be honored if you would consider giving the pattern a test run and give me honest and helpful feedback so that together we can make this a great pattern.

Introducing Estherlyn's Jumper.

If you would be interested in testing, please fill out the form by clicking the link below.  I will contact you if you are chosen to become a tester.

Testing will run from Friday June 20th - Saturday June 28th.  Those who are selected will receive a finished copy of the pattern at no cost and I am organizing a few other fun little bonuses as well!

I would classify this as a beginner's pattern.  You will need to know how to sew curves and add buttonholes, but really, that is as complicated as this pattern gets.  All of the seams end up enclosed, so there is no need to worry about needing a serger or knowing how to finish seams.

Sizes range from 3m-girls size 10. See the size chart below for measurements.  The most important measurements for this dress are the chest measurement and the height measurement.

Thank you in advance to those of you who sign up!

Getting closer!

Yay, I am getting closer to finishing my first pattern!  Yesterday I spent the day putting everything into the tiling template and putting all the copyright tags and markings and labelings on everything.  Whew! What a job, but that part is DONE!

I am calling this dress Estherlyn's Jumper.  It is a simple sleeveless A-line jumper with an asymmetrical apron panel in the front.  The dress is fully lined and has options for different types of trim such as lace or piping.  The size range is from 3 months to girls 10.

Here is a sneak peek...
Sorry the quality of the photo is not great.  I snapped it quick with my iPhone.

I will be putting out an official call for testers hopefully later this week or next week, but if you are interested in testing leave a comment with a way for me to reach you and I will fill you in with more information when the official testing begins.

Until next time,
Happy sewing!
